Small Steps
Tyler Bottger didn’t follow the most conventional path to working as a nurse in a long-term care facility. His first job in the medical field was as an emergency medical technician. But before going back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Tyler worked as a roughneck on an oil field! His next career step is to earn his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN). He’s already begun that process.
Recovering from alcoholism and depression himself, Tyler is committed to helping others live the best and healthiest life they possibly can. He used to literally hate himself at his lowest point. He says he wished he’d known fifteen years ago that he could ever feel this good. If he had, he’d have started this journey to wellness way earlier. Right now he’s determined to live a healthy lifestyle aimed to prevent the dementia that has impacted not only his own family but countless others.
Tyler describes his journey as small steps. Every day he’s a bit healthier than he was the month before. Eventually, all of the steps he’s taken end up in major transformative changes. For fun and relaxation, he enjoys traveling with his wife and being outside–even if it’s just to walk the dog.
