When you leave a comment on the Site, we collect the data in the comment form, your

If you upload images to the Site, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS).
Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the Site.

  • Comments: If you opt in, your name, email, and website are saved in cookies for
one year so you don’t have to re-enter them.
  • Login: Temporary cookies verify browser cookie support on the login page. Login

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Site, monitor
effectiveness, and respond to your inquiries. We do not sell your personal
information.

Third-Party Services

WordPress

We publish content through WordPress.com and use its standard analytics to collect
anonymized data about site activity (e.g., page views) to monitor and improve the
Site. Visitors who wish to leave a comment must provide a name and email address. See
Automattic’s Privacy Notice for details.

Kit (formerly ConvertKit)

We use Kit to deliver email newsletters. We collect statistics on email opens and
clicks using industry-standard technologies to monitor and improve our email
communications. Subscribers may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Pinterest

Renaissance Rachel uses the Pinterest API to create and manage content (Pins and boards) on Pinterest accounts that you connect. Renaissance Rachel is an independent service. It is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by Pinterest, and “Pinterest” is a trademark of Pinterest, Inc.

The data described in this section is data we access or obtain through the Pinterest API. When you connect a Pinterest account, we store the access and refresh tokens that let us publish on your behalf. If you disconnect your Pinterest account, or ask us to remove it, we delete those tokens and any Pinterest API data associated with your account from our systems. You can also revoke access at any time from your Pinterest account settings, which immediately ends our access.

We do not sell, rent, license, or share Pinterest content or any Pinterest API data with third parties. We use it only to provide the publishing features described here.

Google / YouTube — Content Pipeline

We operate a private content-publishing tool (“the App”) used solely by the account
owner to upload, schedule, and manage videos on our own YouTube channel.

  • Access: The App uses Google OAuth (youtube.force-ssl scope) to upload videos,
set scheduled publish times, and read or update video details on the authorizing
account’s own channel only. It does not access data belonging to any other user or
    viewer.
  • Storage: An OAuth refresh token is stored locally on the owner’s machine to
maintain the authorized connection. No YouTube content data is retained beyond what
is needed to perform a requested upload or scheduling action.
  • Sharing: We do not sell, share, or transfer Google user data to any third party.
Data is not used for advertising and is not transferred to others except as required
    by law.
  • Limited Use: The App’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs
adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy,
    including the Limited Use requirements.
  • Revoking access: You may revoke the App’s Google access at any time at
    myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Links to Other Sites

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over, and
assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any
third-party sites. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site
you visit.

Data Sharing

We do not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your
consent, except as described in this policy or as required by law. Your IP address
is included in password-reset emails when you request one. Visitor comments may be
checked through an automated spam-detection service.

Data Retention

  • Comments: Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can
recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
  • Registered users: We retain the personal information you provide in your user
profile for as long as you have an account. All users can view, edit, or delete
their personal information at any time (except usernames cannot be changed). Site
administrators can also view and edit that information.

Your Rights

If you have an account on the Site or have left a comment, you may request an export
of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase it. Erasure requests
do not apply to data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security
purposes.
